Road Trip to the Old Meeting House - October 2009
24 Students of the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational
Collaborative from Minnechaug visited the Old Meeting House on
October 26th. They were treated to homemade brownies lovingly
baked and served on Halloween platters by Marcie Hayn. Sandy
Sanders served cider and they enjoyed storytelling by Sandy who
was dressed in a period dress and bonnet. Morrie Hayn led a
tour of the Hearse House Museum.
Sandy and Joan Paris took the students on a tour of the museum
featuring old clothes, arrowheads and early household and native
American implements. The children were already very
knowledgeable about the the native Americans and they asked
great questions and offered a lot of their own comments.
Joan told them a story about a murder mystery in Wilbraham- The
Marcus Lyon Murder and they enjoyed the suspense and the
spookiness of the tale!
They received some Wilbraham postcards and a Peppercorn
newsletter The students loved the House and named the museum
dog- "Wilbraham Willie" for short, they explained. We hope they
will visit again soon. We enjoyed watching their friendships
and caretaking of one another and their visit was a memorable
one!
